Machine Operator - Toronto, ON

The Machine Operator is required to ensure the safe, efficient operation, cleaning of and running and setting up adjustments up to two different machines. They are responsible for the maintenance of prescribed quantity and quality of product produced. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting machine and calling for additional resources as required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:  (The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all expectations):

  • Maintain high production numbers for daily goals
  • Read production work orders
  • Produce product with an emphasis on quality
  • Operating up to two different machinery and able to make running adjustments to the set up as required
  • Follow running instructions
  • Adequately fill in all paperwork as required
  • Provide feedback and maintenance requests to improve machine performance
  • Complete Quality checks
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times
  • Participate in training and cross training, improvement initiatives including health and safety and quality improvement
  • Participate and maintain 5S in the workplace
  • Participate in and contribute to the continuous improvement process
  • Adhere to all workplace safety policies, compliances and regulations
  • May be assigned to perform additional tasks, as required

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: (The following minimum requirements are normal guidelines and should not constrain the advancement of otherwise qualified personnel):

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One + years’ previous experience in production setting
  • Able to set up two different machines
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Skilled at using measuring devices such as vernier and Micrometer caliper, and tape measure, etc.
  • Highly punctual
  • Able to work as a functioning member of a team
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently in a busy, shop environment
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing in English
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
