Part # CON-060
Xypex Concentrate is the most chemically active product within the Xypex Crystalline Waterproofing System. When mixed with water, this light grey powder is applied as a cementitious slurry coat to above-grade or below-grade concrete, either as a single coat or as the first of a two-coat application. It is also mixed in Dry-Pac form for sealing strips at construction joints, or for the repairing of cracks, faulty construction joints and honeycombs. Xypex prevents the penetration of water and other liquids from any direction by causing a catalytic reaction that produces a non-soluble crystalline formation within the pores and capillary tracts of concrete and cement-based materials.
Product Information & Usage
Xypex is a non-toxic, chemical treatment for the waterproofing and protection of concrete. Xypex's primary and most distinguishing performance feature is its unique ability to generate a non-soluble crystalline formation deep within the pores and capillary tracts of the concrete - a crystalline structure that permanently seals the concrete against the penetration of water and other liquids from any direction. Xypex crystalline products are dry powder compounds composed of portland cement, silica sand and many active, proprietary chemicals.
Features and Benefits
The crystalline nature of the Xypex waterproofing system provides many application advantages over traditional barrier products.
Composition and Materials
Xypex is manufactured in the form of a dry powder compound consisting of portland cement, very fine treated silica sand and various active proprietary chemicals.
When mixed with water and applied as a cementitious coating, the active chemicals in Xypex cause a catalytic reaction which generates a nonsoluble crystalline formation of dendritic fibers within the pores and capillary tracts of concrete. Thus, the concrete itself becomes permanently sealed against the penetration of water or liquids from any direction.
Xypex products must be stored dry at a minimum temperature of 45°F (7°C). The shelf life is one year when stored under proper conditions.
Xypex is not designed for use in expansion joints or chronically moving cracks.
